TENCEL® for Costco Baby Wipes

Costco have chosen TENCEL® for their Kirkland SignatureTM baby wipes since it combines functionality with environmental responsibility. The wipes are currently available in the US - global distribution is already at the planning stage.

TENCEL® offers a smooth fiber surface which makes the wipes ultra soft and gentle to sensitive skin while still being super strong.

Nice-Pak developed the high quality wipes for Costco. The wipes are based on the renewable raw material wood and are fully biodegradable. After use, the baby wipes can be disposed with a clear conscience as they are biodegradable.

TENCEL® receives eco-awards

Double success for Lenzing fibers in Mobile, USA: TENCEL® has been awarded both the European and the Nordic Eco-Label.

The extension of the certification to Mobile was a logical step since interest in Eco-Labels continues to increase in North America. The production sites in Austria and the UK received the Nordic Eco-Label in 2008.

Both the European and the Nordic Eco-Label identify environmentally responsible products with high quality. This supports the whole nonwovens supply chain up to and including consumers.

Life Cycle Analysis wins Honory Award

Li Shen received the Paul Schlack Honory award at the Man-made Fibers Congress in Dornbirn. With this prize the Jury honoured the outstanding co-operation between a university and a company. The project comprised a Life Cycle Analysis of fibers. Lenzing commissioned Utrecht University to conduct the independent study.

Li Shen and her team investigated environmentally relevant data of synthetic, cellulosic and cotton fibers. The results of the Life Cycle Analysis show that Lenzing Viscose® and TENCEL® compare favourably with both other plant based fibers and with oil based fibers.

Lenzing sponsored spunlace conference in Nanjing

Lenzing's Business Unit Nonwovens sponsored the spunlace conference in Nanjing which took place on 15th and 16th of October 2009.

The annually held event is organized by the Chinese spunlace association.

Most of the 141 participants used the opportunity to join the half-day visit to Lenzing’s Nanjing site.

Eco-bag based on Lenzing fibers

Messe Frankfurt has chosen nonwoven eco-bags made from TENCEL® and Lenzing Viscose®. The spunlace bags were distributed at the Interstoff Asia show in Hong Kong.

Messe Frankfurt is impressed by the strength, softness and smoothness of the spunlace fabric allowing high definition printing. Beyond this, the bags are fully biodegradable.
